Dairy is Scary - Viva! Outreach, Brighton

Join us in Exeter as part of Viva's national 'Dairy is Scary' campaign.

At the heart of the dairy industry is a cruelty that is hidden from most of the general public. From birth we are brought up to believe that drinking cow’s milk is natural and necessary for healthy bones. But is it? Cow’s must be impregnated to have a calf; after 9 months of pregnancy and within 24-48 hours, the female calf is taken away to join a future dairy herd. If male, he will be sold cheaply for meat or killed shortly after birth. As for the mothers, they are milked to exhaustion and killed at a fraction of their natural lifespan when their productivity declines.

It doesn’t have to be this way. With so many amazing alternatives on our local supermarket shelves, we can have delicious food, without funding the cruel practices of the dairy industry.

Please come and join our outreach whether you are experienced or new. All are welcome – we will have some surprisingly tasty vegan food samples and will encourage the Exeter public to think in different ways on a journey to a kinder future.
